They are normally operated remotely by air cylinders, electric or pneumatic actuators, although manual versions through the customary hand lever, handwheel and reduction gearboxes can be accommodated.
the flap and back plate are manufactured in HDPE, with a stainless steel 316 hinge-pin, counterweight and attachments. Due to the specific gravity of the HDPE, a stainless steel counterweight is fitted to ensure closure when back-pressure is present; however very low heads of water are required to open the flap, as the design is such that the counterweight balances the flap correctly.
Rotary Airlock Valves are a type of rotary feeder and are often referred to simply as a Rotary Airlock or Rotary Valve. They provide feeding and metering functionality of a standard rotary feeder but their primary duty is to maintain pressure and provide an optimal airlock seal between different product conveying transitions, such as gravity to pneumatic conveying lines. An optimal airlock condition is essential to prevent air pressure loss in high pressure and high temperature conveying systems.
